Competency Framework

A structured set of behaviours and skills required for effective job performance.

Full Definition

A competency framework is a structured model that defines the skills, behaviours, knowledge, and attributes required for employees to perform effectively in their roles and at different levels of the organization. Competency frameworks are used to guide recruitment (identifying required competencies), performance management (evaluating competency demonstration), learning and development (identifying skill gaps), and succession planning (assessing readiness for promotion). HR platforms allow competency frameworks to be embedded into performance review templates.
