Flexible Working

Work arrangements that allow employees to vary their hours, location, or schedule.

Full Definition

Flexible working encompasses a range of work arrangements that give employees more control over when, where, and how they work. Types include flexitime, compressed hours, remote working, hybrid working, job sharing, and part-time working. Flexible working improves work-life balance, reduces commuting costs, and can increase productivity and employee satisfaction. In the UK, all employees have the statutory right to request flexible working from day one of employment (since April 2024).
