The rate at which employees earn leave entitlement over time.
Leave accrual refers to the rate at which an employee accumulates paid leave entitlement over time. Accrual rates can be based on days per month, hours worked, or years of service. For example, an employee entitled to 20 days annual leave accrues approximately 1.67 days per month. Some organizations use front-loaded leave (granting the full year's entitlement at the start of the year) rather than accrual-based leave. HR software automates accrual calculations and prevents employees from taking leave they haven't yet earned.
