Time to Hire

The number of days from when a candidate applies to when they accept an offer.

Full Definition

Time to hire is an HR recruitment metric measuring the number of days from when a candidate enters the hiring pipeline (applies) to when they accept a job offer. It differs from time to fill (which measures from job opening to offer acceptance). Time to hire is a key indicator of recruitment efficiency and candidate experience quality. Long hiring processes frustrate candidates and increase the risk of losing them to faster-moving competitors. ATS software helps reduce time to hire by automating scheduling, screening, and communications.
