A formal yearly evaluation of an employee's performance against set objectives.
An annual performance review (also called a year-end appraisal) is a structured process in which a manager formally evaluates an employee's performance over the past 12 months. It typically covers achievement of goals and KPIs, core competencies, strengths and development areas, career aspirations, and setting objectives for the next year. Many organizations supplement the annual review with more frequent check-ins or quarterly OKR reviews to create a continuous performance culture.
