Voluntary Benefits

Optional benefits that employees can choose to purchase at reduced group rates.

Full Definition

Voluntary benefits are optional benefits that employees can choose to add to their standard benefits package, often at reduced group rates negotiated by the employer. Examples include dental and vision insurance, critical illness cover, personal accident insurance, cycle-to-work schemes, gym memberships, and employee discounts. Voluntary benefits allow employers to offer a broader range of perks without the full cost, and give employees flexibility to select what is most valuable to them. HR software manages voluntary benefits enrollment and payroll deductions.
