Grievance Procedure

A formal process for employees to raise complaints or concerns about their workplace.

Full Definition

A grievance procedure is a formal mechanism that allows employees to raise complaints or concerns about their employment — such as unfair treatment, discrimination, bullying, health and safety issues, or changes to terms and conditions. A typical grievance procedure involves the employee raising the grievance in writing, an investigation meeting, a formal decision, and an appeal process. UK employers are required by law to have a written grievance procedure. HR software provides grievance tracking, case management, and audit trails.
