Occupational Health

Medical services focused on maintaining employee health and fitness for work.

Full Definition

Occupational health (OH) is a specialist healthcare service focused on the relationship between work and health — both protecting employees from work-related illness and injury, and helping employees with health conditions remain in or return to work. OH services include pre-employment health assessments, fit-for-work reports, workplace adjustments advice, and sickness absence management support. HR teams refer employees to occupational health when long-term absence, disability, or complex health issues affect ability to work.
